My Approach
Collaborative
I believe in the power of collaboration to find solutions that work best for your unique family and within your personal values. As a guide, I will work closely with you to develop tools to get through the space you are in now and push you to develop how you want your family to look in the future. Together, we can give you new confidence in your parenting and excitement at what the years to come hold knowing you are standing on solid ground.
Compassionate
Every parent and every child is doing the absolute best they can with the skills they have at that very moment. I will approach every session with this same compassionate nonjudgement for each member of your family. Together, we will better understand where each person is and how we can show unconditional love for the strengths and challenges each brings. We will learn to validate each person and accommodate their feelings while learning and growing happens.

The engagement will last as long as you want. I will not lock you into a package because circumstances can change, and we all need freedom to make the best choices for our family. Our relationship will be structured around making short term and long-term goals. Those short-term goals are designed to improve your current day to day life so that as a family you can get relief to do the more maturing growth. Long term goals are designed to give you the confidence to weather future storms on your own.

Coaching is not therapy. I cannot diagnose, advise on medication or offer medical advice. Families typically are seeking help with day-to-day life, and coaching acts as a guide for you to help devise new solutions. Together we will brainstorm tools. I will ask hard questions to look at situations from a different angle and direct you to published evidence-based advice that I have found helpful. Just as a baseball coach doesn’t throw the ball for you, you will be the one throwing the ball with someone who has been in your shoes before to guide you.

Absolutely! Both Neurodiverse children and parents are welcome at Resilient Roots. I am here to offer a way to work together in harmony with your different neurotypes in a positive way. I am also here to support parents who are newly diagnosed, self-diagnosed or just suspected neurodiverse as it is all a spectrum and equally valid. Since neurodiversity tends to run in families, I am here to help navigate, not just children, but parents who finding it hard managing their own neurodiversity in a family. All neurotypes are unique and accepted in my practice with respect. I use progressive models of neurodiversity to support families with understanding and accommodation for growth.
